China - Longji

I am in the butifull Longji area now. They are atualy holding a Guinness Wold Record for"First Village Long Hair". This is just amising to see - I just dont belive it.
This place is totaly amising, it is the rise terrases. They where build 800 years a go - but it took400 years to finnes the work. Every thoing done by hads - to day the guys are doing all the houses bu had, the walking paths an every thing.

We had to walk for30 minutes from the parking lot to here, and I got an old ladi to carry my backpack. Boy o boy was she fast... I just had to hope she know where my gesthous is... and she did. She even know what room I was inn. I was getting sick by the time I got there. And the room has heater and you have to play to turn them on... 20 yuan. ,, I have to say my confort is worth mutch more. We all huddeld in my room wihle itwas hiting up. Then we had sub tropical limet for the rest of the night. Lyn has be feeding me C-vitamins and telling me todrink alot... I do my best. I am atualy sitting here in the cold to get you this message... my fingers are folling off so I am stopping now...

China - Dong village

The Dong village was so nice. But you have to belive me I almost died of cold. And now I have the runni nose, fever and headake. Se sade in a gesthouse with the Wu's. Tim there son talks good english and did all the talking for the family... and our guading a raound the village and the neboring villages. The gesthouse is be the most prettyes "Wind and Rain" birge with the Dong people. Me and Lyn when over the brige and got lot of good suvaners, from the local old ladies. Every villeg has a Wind and Rain brige and a drum tower. In the drum tower the 60 and older man sit and play cards, drink tea, smoke and tell storys. And some take the infants in the family with them - they are good babysitters! I have my name "Kristin Iceland" carved on one of the brige stones for 10 yuan. So I will be inmortal - at least my that brige. Did I mention the cold? Well I still dont belive how cold it was, I sleept in all my close and with 2 blanceds it still did not help.
We left the Dong village and hoped not to find the cold agein, but I did with lot of sadnes - I just love Ms Wu cooking. She has to be the world gratest cheff - and if you have had seen the kitchen she makes this most delisius food from. You know she is!
That is it form the Dong village.

The Dong village is in the midel of the mountains - really cold. Where the rice padios are. We have to hike for some hours to get there. Then we will live in very roulal condition for 2 nights and frees our butts off.
Wiss me luck.
Bye for now.

China - Guangxi

Where did I leav of last time...
...ye the huts in midel of no where. This is not a joke. We got over the "Friendship" boarder, kind of they where opening the boarder station on China side... lot of govermental aficials. But we got throw no problem... and in to China. Then we had a drive to "midel of no where" and in the small huts. O my go was it cold or what... snow in Iceland... this is colder. But if was all fixed with a game of frisbe - it was Thanks Giving after all - and our toure leader is an american. We had to wait for all the important people to get of the river - the govermantal afficials. So we when really late to see the paintings on the cliff - rock face. It was masing... but no photo came out of that - to dark. Then we saild home in the dark... not much fun. Had dinner and then the fun begen... well they had been playing karioky them selfs while we where eathing, but after some beers Chris and Tony got up there and started to sing... O my it was BAD. Well some was good... but usualy not. I did a small part of one song... so this was my first karioki experiens, I am not going again... or so I say now. How is that posible in China?
Well we are here in a the big city of Guangxi. We got here on public transportation - sounds bad. But it was first class buses with a "stuardis" like in the airplains. Lether seat and only 3 seats per. row. Pretty good I have to say... and I was ready to hold some small children or chiken on my lab.
Last night we when boling, the boys where pretty confident that they where the best - like boys do. But Lyn my roomy showed them how some wisdom dose it. And she beat them so bad.. I think they are going to be OK. Then we went to "five star street" to the Soho Bar. I have to say after the karioki in the huts ... I thow it did not get worse... well if you are a Britney Spers fan you will find China charming.
This is it for now...
Kristin

Hi who...
Bussy day yesterday in Cat Ba Island, we whent motobiking with a driver I did not pass my test so I had to sit in the back... I really dont know why. But they let Mr. Chris have a bike - I still dont understand. Well he did good untill one turn when he was following us (me and my driver) with his friend Adam on the back. We where looking for them in the back but they just did not show up so we trund around and heading back. I go worrided when we met a shoty lady in the midel of the road... yes they did take a dive of the raod hitting a concread barrier and taking that with them in to the mud. Well we found them staning in the raod looking at the broken bike. They helped get the bike up than I plade Flo Nitingail with my first aid paced. Cuts, burn, brooses and a stain knee - all in one cast.
When we get back to the hotel I got a translater and when to the pharmasy - well they are not stoked up in the 1st Aid stuff... so we mate it do.
After the morning adventur I whent kayaking in a postcard. This is not a joke, it is so buetyfull in Ha Long Bay, just breath taking. We got home after 2 hours of kayaking and 3 hours of baoding and hit the showers. Then the electrisity whent out... and the lighting lid up the sky. What a display of natur, so we opend our windows and Lyn had a candel and I eat my chees and crakers.. and when to sleep.
This morning we had an 5 hour boat ride throw one of the postcards.. the the shore. Then a long long long bus ride to here.
OK it is China tomorrow - thorw the Friendship boarders. Wiss me luck.

Hi you all,
I am still in Hanoi, we have been saying bye to one and one today. And I am meeting my new group in 20 minutes. I have a new roomy called Lyn she is from Australia. My new tour leader is from USA - Erica.
Today I did walk down to the old quarter and went to the biggest marked I have been to. All local people, so I was the new Sirius in town. lol. After awhile I started pinching people back, and then most of the touching stopped. What a trip. I did get some souvenirs, I am just hoping that they will make it home. Yesterday I send a packet home via airmail. It will be fun to see if it will find Iceland, we where not in any book around here, but they had a big map that I used to point out what I was meaning - and I think she asked if we have postal serves in that country. lol
We are going out for dinner tonight like every night just with our new leader - she is a food person. So this will be interesting!!!

See you later...

Hello hello, sorry I have not written in some time. But guess what!!!! I got sick...lol... yes we where on our way over the Laos mountain and first we towed that I was carsick - but then it just did not stop. So it was the verdict that I had a "bug". I am soon getting my strength after that episode. I missed out on a kayaking trip down the Mekong, but O my ... I don’t think I will have maid that, the guys came back all red and toasted. Now we spend the day in Vientiane the capital city of Laos. It is a nice but dirty city; I had my massage and some nice dinner. And tomorrow we are heading to the Vietnam border.
There has been lot of action sins my last writing, like that I woke up at 5am to buy some sticky rice and feed the monks. I went on a crafts tour in the iron workers village, the silk village, some rice village and to a silver smith. I have done some sopping - all for my self. I just don’t have room in my back pack other wise there will be lot of stuff coming from here.

Then we went to the night marked and got some food tickets and I had chicken - coconut soup. Yummy...

We started with coconut massage, the pedicure (fotsnyrting) and then a full faceal... with seeweed and cucumbers. After this we had oragne, line and pinapell smooty.
All of this was for less then 1000 bath - 3 1/2 houre of being a quine... and I did not need to walk around in the sun and sweet. How grate is that...
